Herefordshire Citizens Advice Bureaux is a charitable company limited by guarantee that was started in September 1999. However they have been CABx in Herefordshire since 1966. The new charity is a merger of three existing CABx at Hereford, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye.

Herefordshire CABx is a member of the Citizens Advice (Citizens Advice). We are governed by strict quality standards and policies that ensure that the advice we give to our clients is accurate, up to date and can be relied upon.

The CAB has two aims:

1. To ensure that individuals do not suffer through lack of knowledge of their rights and responsibilities or of the services available to them or through an inability to express their needs effectively.

Members of the previous management committees for Hereford, Ross-on-Wye and Leominster Bureaux signing the papers to start the new charitable company (September 1999)

2. To exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services both locally and nationally.

In addition we have four key principles which are that our services will always be

Free

Independent

Impartial

Confidential

Overall responsibility for the organisation is with the management committee who legally are charity trustees and company directors.

The committee employs two managers to run the services that the CABx delivers and there are also various team leaders and project staff that work n the county, but overall 90% of our staff are volunteers.
